Using Natural Health Methods to Feel Better

Taking over the counter medication isn’t the only way to feel better when you catch a cold. Taking an offensive stance against getting sick will usually help you stay well. Every once in a while, in spite of your bets efforts those germs get in anyway and leave you feeling like you just got ran over with a truck.

You might think that it is a good idea to simply drug yourself into a stupor in the hopes of making your flu symptoms go away but this is a terrible idea. It feels like a viable option but there are healthier ways for you to get over your illness and feel better.

If you are looking for something to help ease your cold and flu symptoms and to, hopefully, cure your cold completely there are plenty of natural options available. Try a few of the options presented in this article.

Water is the best. Everybody knows they need between six and eight glasses of water each day but you can use water as more than something to quench your thirst. If you suffer from headaches, increase your water intake—you’ll feel better faster than you would if you popped a couple of pills. Many headaches start because of dehydration. Drinking a glass of water can help that headache start to wane in a matter of minutes.

In addition to keeping you hydrated you can use water for other things. When you have a fever, for example, take a hot bath—keep a cold compress on your head but let yourself sit in the hot bath for a while. The heat helps you start sweating (to break your fever) and helps your muscles relax. Sweat is how your body does its own temperature regulation as well as how it brings fevers down.

You can get vitamin C from more things than oranges and orange juice! Those leafy greens you usually pass up are also great sources of Vitamin C! This is good news because it means you have a variety of options available to help you combat an impending flu! Other citrus fruits contain vitamin C as well, so change out your orange juice for some lemonade or limeade.

Adding bell peppers to your foods is a great idea because bell peppers are another good source of vitamin C! Adding bell peppers to your meals won’t just enhance the flavor of the food it gives you the nutrients you need to build a strong body that is able to fight off illness.

Stop eating sugar. Eating sugar is bad for your immune system and it makes you more susceptible for illnesses. If you want to feel healthier, eating less sugar is the way to go—just ask someone who used to eat sugar but has stopped doing so.

Instead of choosing a sugary drink (which might taste better), choose water because water helps you flush out toxins and sugary drinks helps them get in. If you want to get rid of a cold or the flu, eating sugar is counterproductive and gets in the way of other natural health cures you might be trying.

When you get a cold you can choose something besides spending money on pharmaceuticals. Why not choose from the natural health cures that you have filling your kitchen already? You don’t have to waste so much time and energy and money at the pharmacy so why do you continue to do so? Choosing natural health cures just makes more sense.
